Immediate start date available
We are seeking to appoint a well-qualified, dynamic and inspirational person to join our strong and dedicated team, working in the beautiful and historic surroundings of the Cathedral Close. The successful candidate will have experience in teaching History, and ideally Politics, up to A Level. We would ask candidate to indicate which subjects, and to what level they can teach, within their application.
You will be able to stretch, challenge and engage our pupils of all abilities throughout KS3-KS5, supporting them to reach their full potential.
We seek to develop a love of both History and Politics in the School, and both have been a popular A Level choice. We have high expectations of our students and teach the subjects in a lively and stimulating way that encourages them to enjoy the subject. A wide variety of approaches and teaching methods are used to develop students’ key skills such as analysis, essay writing and source evaluation. The Department also prepares candidates for applications to competitive universities.
Both the Politics and History Departments contribute strongly to the school’s extra-curricular programme and the successful candidate will be expected to be involved with these activities. Additionally, students are given the opportunity to engage with high profile speakers on a wide range of topics. The departments also run trips and visits related to their courses and the successful candidate will be expected to participate in the organisation of such visits.
As a teacher you will join a thriving team who teach across the age and ability range throughout the school. Suitable candidates will have excellent academic qualifications and an innovative teaching style. Your passion for your subject will be clear to the students and you will have an ability to build, develop and maintain strong and positive relationships with all students, parents and colleagues alike. As part of a successful department, you will need to have a passion for teaching first class lessons and be prepared to contribute to the wider life of the school.
We are looking for the right candidate to fill this role to continue to deliver the excellent education upon which the school prides itself, as reflected in the most recent Inspection Report.
The post has a potential September start date, however, we would need to hold interviews when pupils are in school. We have therefore indicated that an immediate start is available, however, should you have a notice period to work, we are flexible and will wait for the right candidate to join the team.
All applications should include a letter of support and full contact details of at least two referees (including email addresses). Any gaps in career history need to be clarified on the application form, and any relevant details be given.
If you are interested in applying for this position, full details and access to the School portal where you can apply may be obtained on the School’s website, www.lichfieldcathedralschool.com or you can apply via TES.
