Visiting Music Teacher - Cello
The School is currently seeking a part-time Visiting Cello Teacher to join our music team. You will join as a self-employed music teacher, joining a dynamic and supportive Music Department, where music is extremely important and where a large number of pupils have individual music lessons in school.
The position is for approximately 1/2 day of teaching at present, across our Lichfield and Longdon sites. There is scope to increase teaching hours through the recruitment of new students, and the successful candidate will be encouraged to grow their pupil list in collaboration with the department.
All children are taught on an individual basis in 30 minute lessons, being mostly withdrawn from academic lessons. The teacher would also be expected to uphold the excellent standards of participation in school ensembles and be prepared to involve themselves in the wider opportunities offered.
The School has a considerable musical reputation, not simply because of the quality of musicianship of the choristers of the Cathedral Choir but also because music is promoted strongly at all levels of the School. There is a good programme of concert performance opportunities throughout the year, both formally and within the context of other school occasions.
The School is looking for a teacher, with professional performing experience, who will inspire and encourage a continuing growth of pupils playing the Piano within the School, and ensure that the highest standards are maintained.
The ideal candidate will:
Our Visiting Music Teachers go through the same recruitment checks as our employees. Therefore, when applying, you should be prepared to go through an interview process, DBS check, and references will be sought. Therefore, we would also ask you to provide referees as part of your application.
The closing date for applications is Midday 20th June 2025.
Lichfield Cathedral School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and all applicants will be subject to DBS disclosure in accordance with the DBS Code of Practice.
